Sihastria Putnei: Faces from Romanian monastic life
Photographer Dragoş Lumpan joins the monks of Sihastria Putnei - a Romanian Orthodox monastic retreat in Northern Bucovina built in the 15th century - for the Easter fasting and follows them with his camera to the places of prayer, work, and repast. Little by little they get accustomed to the presence of this camera which will document the tale of their daily life.
This photo and multimedia exhibition, first arranged by Celia Ghyka in Luxembourg, is organized by the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in collaboration with the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, with financial support provided by the Cantemir Program of RCI.
