DADAdventure - A Gala of Romanian Dada

Season opening event at
the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York

The Romanian Cultural Institute in New York and The Consulate General of Switzerland in New York in collaboration with the Romanian Ministry of Culture, the Institute for the Research of Romanian and European Avant-garde, and Romania's National Museum of Art present DADAdventure: A Gala of Romanian Dada.

The Romanian Cultural Institute in New York’s exhibition, DADA… born Romania, is to open on the stroke of midnight! The show consists of exclusively Romanian Dada and other avant-garde publications, posters, and paintings and is meant as an AddenDada to the globetrotting Dada exhibition ending at MoMA. Our show opens as the MoMA exhibition ends to suggest the endless resurrection of Dada!

The event’s opening act The Romanians of Cabaret Voltaire starts at 9 pm and offers a few Happy Dada Hour specials, such as
---- 'Dada East: the Romanians of Cabaret Voltaire' – a presentation by and debate with, Tom Sandqvist, author and professor of art history, University College of Arts, Crafts, and Design in Stockholm
---- A sneak preview of the forthcoming 'Dada East?' exhibition at cabaret voltaire (Zurich) by Adrian Notz, curator and co-director, with an introduction and film fragments
---- A brief contextualization of the Romanian avant-garde by Nicolae Tzone, President of the Institute for the Research of Romanian and European Avant-garde
---- A Dad(a)ramatic performance from Tzara’s 'Gas Heart' compiled and directed by Cosmin Chivu, Actors’ Studio instructor
---- Settings in the Dada spirit created by Nic Ularu, Director of the Art Design Program at University of South Carolina.
