Open Doors: The Studio of Sasha Meret |
On May 24, Sasha Meret opens the doors of his studio to allow the public a closer encounter with his work and with the artist. With an introduction by: Allan Graubard, poet, essayist, art critic Keith Miller, artist and curator Born in Romania in 1955, Sasha Meret completed his art education in Romania. After his arrival in New York, he studied printmaking with Tony Harrison at Columbia University. He currently lives and works in New York City, and he had exhibits in Europe, Japan, and the U.S. His work encompasses a wide range of techniques and styles. He combines painting with printmaking techniques like: intaglio, woodcut, aquatint, monotype, and works in a variety of styles, from representational to abstract. He collaborates as a weekly illustrator for The New York Times, International Herald Tribune and illustrated several books for Harper Collins, Simon and Schuster, Henry Holt and other publishing houses.
