The Youth of Europe film series

The “Youth of Europe” film series is a four-day series of recent European films in the framework of the European Dream Festival. It features films from Austria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland in a wide variety of genres and styles, from comedies to stark dramas, but each of them offers another view of the strategies being used to cope with the changes transforming the “Old World” into something very new indeed.

Aiming to offer an effective introduction to a provocative new generation of European cinema, the screenings will be complemented by roundtable discussion bringing together the directors, producers, and critics from Europe and the U.S. attending the “Youth of Europe” film series, among whom film director Miha Hocevar (Slovenia) and co-author and producer Marcel Hoehn (Switzerland). The discussion will be moderated by Richard Pena (Program Director, Film Society of Lincoln Center) and Mihai Chirilov (film critic and Director of the Transilvania International Film Festival in Cluj, Romania) and will take place on September 23, starting at 11:30 am, in the Auditorium of the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York (200 East 38th Street @ 3rd Avenue).

The roundtable will be followed by a light lunch.
