Contemporary Romanian Cinema at UCLA

UCLA Film & Television Archive presents Contemporary Romanian Cinema


On Friday, April 2nd, at 7:30 pm, Tales From the Golden Age will open a special Romanian film series at the UCLA Film & Television Archive. The series will include other recent features and documentaries of the Romanian New Wave.

Director Nae Caranfil will be in attendance with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York.

The series program is as follows:

FRI, April 2, 7:30 pm: Tales from the Golden Age (dir. Cristian Mungiu, Ioana Uricaru, Hanno Höfer, Razvan Marculescu & Constantin Popescu)
SAT, April 3, 7:30 pm: Boogie (dir. Radu Muntean)
FRI, April 9, 7:30 pm: Cold Waves (dir. Alexandru Solomon), followed by Children of the Decree (dir. Florin Iepan)
SUN, April 11, 7:00 pm: The Rest is Silence (dir. Nae Caranfil)
FRI, April 16, 7:30 pm: The Flower Bridge (dir. Thomas Ciulei), followed by Constantin and Elena (dir. Andrei Dăscălescu)
SUN, April 18, 7:00 pm: California Dreamin’ (endless) (dir. Cristian Nemescu)
MON, April 19, 7:30 pm: 4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days (dir. Cristian Mungiu)

The series has received the support of IFC Films, Astra Film, the Romanian National Center for Cinema, the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, the Consulate General of Romania in Los Angeles, the Center for European and Eurasian Studies at UCLA, the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at UCLA.
