Sabot Gallery at INDEPENDENT |
The Transylvanian-based Sabot Gallery has been invited to participate in the promising first edition of INDEPENDENT, a new model and temporary exhibition forum, conceived by Elizabeth Dee and Darren Flook, which will run concurrent with the renowned Armory Show.
The Sabot Gallery is located in the Brush Factory in Cluj, a former, actual brush factory recently retrofitted into an unconventional and independent cultural center dedicated to contemporary art: individual artists' studios, galleries and headquarters for initiatives in the visual arts, contemporary dance and theater.
For INDEPENDENT, Sabot Gallery presents "SABOT-AGE! Picture Maxxification, Cultural Digestion, and Populist Elitism in the Age of Rhizomatic Economy (From Cluj With Love, Daria & Marcel)," bringing small works by the represented artists - Radu Comşa, Alex Mirutziu, Vlad Nancă and Alice Tomaselli, as well as special projects by “friends, gray eminencies and ghostly comrades” – Fia Backström, Pádraig Mullen (aka Bulletin M), Ylva Ogland, David Robbins, Lee Williams and Allais Young.
Radu Comşa will be in attendance in NYC throughout the duration of the fair, along with Sabot’s director Daria Dumitrescu. Sabot Gallery's participation in INDEPENDENT is made possible with the support of RCINY.
