CROSSCUTS: Pianist Anca Saftulescu The Enescu Society USA and RCINY present, for the first time in New York, emerging pianist Anca Săftulescu, one of the most promising young Romanian musicians.

George Enescu (1881-1955): Bourrée from Piano Suite in D major op. 10

Béla Bartok (1881-1945): Piano Sonata


The recital is part of "CROSSCUTS. Young Romanian Artists at RCINY" and will be followed in the RCINY Gallery by Artist talk with Ioana Nemes: "On primitivism and why Excel cannot be trusted"


Born in Bucharest in 1985, Anca Saftulescu has a BA in Piano and Musical interpretation from the National University of Music in Bucharest. She also studied Musical Interpretation in Paris as part of an Erasmus scholarship, following the piano-class of Prof. Jacques Rouvier. In 1999 she won the 1st prize in the "Maryse Cheilan" competition in France, along with many prizes and distinctions in Romania. She was also awarded by many of the yearly "Lory Wallfisch" International Contests, and was a finalist of the 2004 International "Eurovision Young Musicians" Competition. In recent years, Anca Saftulescu has performed a variety of recitals and concertos with orchestras, as well as on Radio and Television, in Romania, France, and Belgium. This concert marks her first visit to the United States, as she would like to pursue her further studies in this country.
