GALERIA PLAN B at THE ARMORY SHOW Featuring "151 of the world's leading contemporary galleries showing new art by living artists", the Armory Show's sole Eastern European selected gallery this is year is Galeria Plan B from Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Its participation will include works by Romanian artists Alexandra Croitoru, Adrian Ghenie, Victor Man, Ciprian Muresan, Cristi Pogacean, and Gabriela Vanga. Galeria Plan B is an artist-run space opened in September 2005 in Cluj, coordinated by artists and curators Mihai Pop and Adrian Ghenie. The name was born as a reference to the general situation of art spaces in Romania, many of which are dependent on or targeting the scarce public funds available. Having attracted support from two private companies, Galeria Plan B is one of the few contemporary arts galleries in Romania to prove the backup plan can function as well. Participation to the Armory Show benefits from the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York.
On Friday, February 23, 2007, Galeria Plan B was featured in the New York Times article dedicated to the 2007 Armory Show.
