On January 22, 7pm, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Vlad Iftinca will perform in "Song of America", alongside baritone Thomas Hampson, in The Charles Engelhard Court, The American Wing. This panorama of American song features music by Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber, Charles Ives, Francis Hopkinson, Charles Tomlinson Griffes, Virgil Thomson, and others. This concert is presented in conjunction with the opening of the New American Wing: Galleries for Paintings, Sculpture, and Decorative Arts on January 16, 2012. 

In early February, the Romanian pianist will conduct two of Rossini's earliest one-act operas in "La cambiale di matrimonio & La scala di seta: A Rossini Double Bill" at the Juilliard Opera's Rosemary and Meredith Willson Theater, in a production directed by David Paul. The performance's Set Designer is Caite Hevner, with Costume Design by Anne Kenned and Lighting Design by Ben Pilat.

On February 24 at 7.30 pm Vlad Iftinca will join soprano Erin Morely for a performance at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall. The recital will include songs by Haydn, Rossini, Schubert and others. More information about the program here.

Vlad Iftinca is currently part of the 2010-2011 Metropolitan Opera music staff roster and is also the Staff Music Coach for the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. Born in Romania, he received his primary education at Reina Sofia School of Music and the Real Conservatorio in Madrid, Spain. He pursued additional studies at the Mannes School of Music and The Juilliard School in New York.  Mr. Iftinca has collaborated in recital with distinguished singers such as Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Deborah Voigt, Hei-Kyung Hong, Thomas Hampson, Shenyang and Isabel Leonard. Recent recital appearances include The 2011 Beijing Music Festival, Metropolitan Opera’s 2009 Summer Recital Series, Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall in New York City, Los Angeles Opera, the Seoul Performing Arts Center, the Hong Kong Arts Festival, the “Virtuoso Series” in Salt Lake City, and the Ravinia Festival’s “Rising Stars” recital series.  Mr. Iftinca has been part of the music staff at the Renata Scotto Opera Academy in Westchester, New York, and from 2004 to 2006 he collaborated with “Regina Resnik Presents” performing in San Francisco and New York. Recent engagements include the Metropolitan Museum of Art concert series with Thomas Hampson and his conducting debut with The Juilliard School’s production of Rossini’s La cambiale di matrimonio and La scala di seta.  As a part of the 2011-2012 Great Singers III: Evenings of Song recital series, Mr. Iftinca appears with soprano Erin Morley at Carnegie Hall.
