On Monday May 8, the Origin Theatre Company presents, as part of their Eighth Annual Mondays of May play reading series, a public presentation of Gianina Cărbunariu’s play Kebab, translated by Phil Osmet. The reading is directed by Zenon Kruszelnicki. A wine reception follows the free admission event.
In this modern fairytale, three young Romanians go to Dublin to find attention, money, and the chance to make art. Their quest takes them into the moral wilderness created by globalization, economic disparity, and the media age. First produced at the Royal Court and the Dublin Theatre Festival, Kebab has also been seen throughout continental Europe. In Romania, the play ran for six sold out seasons at the Small Theatre in Bucharest under the name mady-baby.edu and was directed by Gianina Cărbunariu.
