Matei Varga: Debut Recital at Carnegie Hall Matei Varga is a fresh and exciting new presence in the piano world. Already established as one of the leading Romanian young pianists, his prodigious talent is fast becoming recognized in the United States and Europe. In his debut recital at Carnegie Hall, Matei Varga will perform works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, and George Enescu.

Romanian Graffiti for Fela! The costumes and stage design of "Fela!", the Off Broadway musical by Bill T. Jones, featuring the story of the Afrobeat star Fela Kuti, bear the signature of New York-based designer Marina Draghici, who, with the support of RCINY, invited Romanian street artists Nuclear Fairy, Irlo and Omar to paint the walls of the theater with the vision to restitute the legendary Shrine of Fela Kuti. The American press praises the musical, including its lushing set and costumes.

This year's Droma Gypsy Festival line up brings together 17 bands and 6 DJs who will be presenting the colorful Gypsy spirit over 9 days (Sept 24-Oct 3). Sanda Weigl (vocals) will be performing contemporary interpretation of Romanian Gypsy music accompanied by Shoko Nagai (piano, accordion, arrangements), Kermit Driscoll (bass), and Satoshi Takeishi (percussion).
