Romanian Designer Catalin Botezatu Returns to New York's Couture Fashion Week Award-winning fashion designer Catalin Botezatu of Romania returns to New York's Couture Fashion Week with the presentation of his most recent collection of innovative creations on FRI, February 13. Alex Rotaru's "They Came to Play" presented in NYC The Van Cliburn Foundation and Rockefeller University present on February 11 the premiere of the documentary They Came to Play, by Romanian director Alex Rotaru. A second screening will take place on February 12 at Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater.

Paul Negoescu's "A Short Ride" selected at Slamdance Film Festival "A Short Ride” (Scurtă plimbare cu maşina), directed by Paul Negoescu, was one of the only two European short films selected in the narrative/experimental competition of the 15th edition of Slamdance Film Festival, running concurrently with the Sundance Film Festival. Young filmmaker Paul Negoescu has previously directed "Exam" (Examen), presented at the 2007 Romanian Film Festival in NYC.

More "vibrant interpretations" of Romanian Gypsy songs with Sanda Weigl & The Band @ Joe's Pub Since relocating to New York in the early nineties, Sanda has performed her singular renditions to critical acclaim throughout the United States, Mexico, Poland, Germany, Austria, and an especially triumphant series of concerts in her native Romania. Before a US tour in Spring 2009, Sanda and The Band (Shoko Nagai - piano, accordion, arrangements; Ben Stapp - tuba; Satoshi Takeishi - percussion) return to Joe's Pub after their sold out show in October 2008.
