Ion Zupcu at Gallery 339, Philadelphia
Gallery 339, Philadelphia, presents a major solo exhibition of Romanian visual Ion Zupcu, opening on March 20. Ion Zupcu has exhibited his photographs nationally and internationally, and his work has been published in a number of publications, including B&W Magazine and Lens Work.  His photographs are now represented in several public and private collections including the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Detroit Institute of Art, The University of Michigan Museum of Art, and the Dayton Art Institute.

Gheorghe Fikl’s first NYC solo exhition at SLAG Gallery
"Labyrinth" is the first solo by Gheorghe Fikl (b. 1968), a Romanian artist from Timisoara, opening on THU, April 2, 6-8 pm, at SLAG Gallery. Fikl's striking images and the violent tones, in which the antagonistic symbols of absolute piety and aggressive carnality explore each other from a distance, and reveal a permanent and almost unbearable psychological tension that focuses especially on a "no one's land" in between them.

Romanian-American Jazz Suite goes to Princeton
Lucian Ban & Sam Newsome's "Romanian-American Jazz Suite" will be featured in a special concert organized by the Romanian Students & Scholars Association at princeton University on April 8, 8 pm. The concert will be preceeded by a workshop on the influences of Romanian and Balkan music in jazz on April 8, 3 pm, in the Music Department's McAlpin Auditorium.

Romanian artists in an international exhibition at the UN
The Inter-Art Foundation from Aiud, Romania presents the international exhibition "Freedom and art without borders", hosted by the UN Headquarters in NYC. The show features 53 artists from 32 countries, including 19 Romanian participants, and presents paintings, photography and graphic works.

Lucian Ban's Tuba Project at Cornelia Street Cafe
Led by Romanian pianist Lucian Ban, TUBA PROJECT (Bob Stewart, tuba;  Bruce Williams, saxophones;  Joe Fiedler, trombone;  Brandon Lewis, drums;  Lucian Ban, piano) is a unique ensemble built around the sound of one of the greatest tuba players in jazz – Mr. Bob Stewart. Founded in 2004 by Lucian Ban and baritone saxist Alex Harding the Tuba Project released an acclaimed album in 2006, featured in the April 4 concerts at Cornelia Street Cafe.
