Liviu Dănceanu

The artistic director of the Contemporary Music Days (since 1992), the ARCHAEUS festival (since 1998) and The Contemporary Music Week in Bucharest (on and off since 1992 to the present). Mr. Dănceanu (b. 1954) teaches history of music, musical aesthetic and composition at the National University of Music in Bucharest. He was visiting professor at Hochschule fur Musik in Munchen, Detmold abteilung in Munster, South Illinois University in Carbondale, Conservatoires of Dijon, Alcoi, Lyon and Moscow. He is the winner of many awards, among which Studium de Toulouse Prize (1986), the Romanian Academy Prize (1989), Soros Prize (1997). Liviu Dănceanu has composed more than 120 musical works, some of them as commissions from Antidogma Musica (Torino), Musica Nova (Alicante), Oficina Musical (Porto), Trieste Prima, Composers Concordance (New York), De Paul University (Chicago), Cleveland Chamber Orchestra, Concorde (Dublin), ENSEMS (Valencia), Radio France (Paris), and others.
