Following its raving festivals success in 2008, The Flower Bridge (Podul de flori), directed by Thomas Ciulei, was presented, among the 35 documentaries from across the globe, in the 2009 edition of the prestigious Documentary Fortnight , the Musem of Modern Art (MoMA)'s annual showcase of nonfiction film and video. The event was featured in The New York Times.

The US release of the stellar interpretation of Romanian composer George Enescu's "Impressions from childhood", performed by world reknown violonist Sherban Lupu and Sinfonia Varsovia, enjoyed an enthusiastic reception form the US music critics.

Following its international success in 2008, Nae Caranfil's latest film, "The Rest is Silence" (Restul e tacere), Romania's official entry for the Best Foreign Film category of the 2009 Oscars, the American Film Academy Awards, was selected by the prestigious Palm Springs International Film Festival, in the Awards Buzz category.

 The winner of the New Voices/New Vision section of the 20th Palm Springs International Film Festival was Hooked by Romanian filmmaker Adrian Sitaru, "For its extraordinary power and utility in portraying fascinating characters engaged in a highly compelling dynamic, relying on pure raw talent behind the superb writing, acting and direction, and all achieved on a Dogme budget," commented Juror Orly Ravid.

Some of the films selected and presented at THREE, the third edition of the Annual Romanian Film Festival in New York (Tribeca Cinemas, December 5-7, 2008) were enthusiastically reviewed in The Epoch Times and other NYC publications or websites.

New Yorkers were introduced to the works of nine young Romanian composers on November 11, in a free concert performed by young Romanian musicians and presented by the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York. 

With RCINY support, Romanian artists team Mona Vatamanu and Florin Tudor presented their most recent project, Appointment with History, at the Lombard Fried Projects gallery in New York City (September-October 2008). The exhibition and lecture were featured by Johanna Burton in the November 2008 issue of Artforum.
